Friday Updates- June 30, 2017

Dear TCDS Families,

Today is the last day of the Summer Nature Program and we have had a FANTASTICALLY fun time these past four weeks! Our first week, the students took a tour in the TCDS Safari Jeep to learn about the animals and culture in Africa. They ended the week by making tribal masks and playing their drums! The second week was filled with Under the Sea adventures as the children learned all about sea life! They explored the “ocean” with their scuba masks and enjoyed water play during centers. The third week, Our Little Scientists learned about STEM themes through exploration and experimentation. They had a blast as they learned about chemical reactions, engineering, and magnetism! And, finally, our little chefs made many delicious recipes this last week in the TCDS kitchen. My personal favorite was pancake day, although I think the children enjoyed the cookies, muffins, and pizza better! Thank you so very much to Ms. Laurie, Ms. Lisa, Ms. Mindy, and Ms. Christina for your expert planning and leadership during the month of June. And thank you, families, for trusting us to provide summer fun to your child this year!

We have many projects happening this summer to improve the school! Our gardens are finished thanks to the help and donations from the Santiago and Shellhammer families, as well as assistance from the Garden Club at Trinity Church! I truly appreciate your dedication to our school! Painters began work this week to freshen up the interior of the school with a new coat of paint. Finally, air conditioning and brand new cubbies will be installed in the four’s wing. So, if you happen to stop by this summer, please pardon our dust as we make way for a fresh start to the school year!

Please remember that the second tuition payment for the year is due August 1. You can stop by the office to drop it off or send it in the mail. Also, keep an eye out for the beginning of the year paperwork sometime during the first two weeks of August. Those mailings will include all paperwork that needs to be turned in the last week in August as well as your child’s gradual entrance schedule. Shortly after those mailings arrive, you will receive a post card from your child’s teacher with a date for the pre-school conference that will take place sometime during the week of August 28. Feel free to send us emails during the summer with any questions, but please know teacher assignments (for the 3’s) will not be announced until after these mailings are sent home.

We have a family who is planning to move to the Jarrettsville area over the summer. If you are coming from that area and would be willing to carpool to TCDS, please contact me and I can put you in touch with the family. I know they would really appreciate it!

Have a fabulous Fourth of July and an even better summer vacation! I know I look forward to having some fun in the sun with my boys and family! Someone should be in the office regularly throughout the summer. If you don’t reach us, please leave a message and we will get back to you quickly!

Take Care,

Chrissy
