Thursday Updates- November 30, 2017

Happy Thursday, TCDS Families!

We have made a very quick switch over to Christmas this week at Trinity! Our Christmas tree is being beautifully decorated with hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves for those served at Paul’s Place. Our food drive is still in full swing with 254 food items collected (only 46 to go in order to meet our goal!). And Angels are being picked from the outreach display in the lobby to help make some local families’ Christmas wishes come true! It always amazes me what generous, kind, and compassionate families we have…. THANK YOU for giving during this season and for showing your children that the holidays aren’t just about presents and tinsel. You all warm my heart.

Santa’s Workshop is just a week away! This wonderful event, organized by Anna Gibbons and Leslie Gibbons, is an opportunity for your children to shop for their loved ones all by themselves. All of the gifts are priced between $1 and $5 and parent volunteers help the children make choices for the people on their Shopping List. Please be sure to send in the Shopping List and money to your teacher on the day listed on the top of the Shopping List. If you do not want your child to shop, please let us know in advance; generally, the Parents’ Club provides an IOU for children who do not have money on this day so, if you don’t want them to participate at all, we need to know! Also, we need volunteers for Wrapping Night (December 6 @ 6:30) and to help the children shop both on Thursday and Friday. Please see the sign-up sheets on the bulletin board in the lobby to sign up, verify which day you would like to volunteer, and confirm what you may have signed up for way back in September!

Scholastic Book orders are due December 7th. You can order online or pick up a paper order form on the table in the lobby. All books must be ordered by December 7 in order to ensure delivery before the holiday!

Christmas Chapel is fast approaching and the children have been working hard with Ms. Sue to prepare! Please read the Tiny Tales (attached) carefully for information about this family event on December 15 in addition to other news for December and January. Note that Ms. Nicole’s class attends both chapels. Also, please remember that this is not a regular school day and that morning and afternoon Extended Day will be cancelled on December 15. I look forward to this chapel every year and I am excited for the magic this group of Angels will bring to it!

Christine Woods (a former Trinity mom) is a Fitness Professional and University Educator. She has recently launched her own business which provides online fitness programming and education. Christine specifically offers solutions for busy moms and working women who can’t necessarily get to a gym and need sound nutrition advising. In the month of December, interested participants can join Christine’s online community FREE!  This opportunity is geared to help navigate the holiday season.  What can be a joyous time of year can also be a challenging time. The program will discuss exercise/activity strategies, nutrition planning and most importantly mindset and how simple shifts in the way we think about the holidays, our bodies, and our expectations can make a positive difference in our perspective and health! Contact Christine via  or email Christine at if you would like to join her online fitness community FREE in December. Pick up a flyer on the table in the lobby for more information!

Trinity Church’s Candy Cane Christmas Bazaar is this Saturday, December 2 from 9 to 2. Please join us for pictures with Santa, craft vendors, delicious food, St. John’s Bell Choir, and much more! I will be here all day, so come visit me and pick up some Christmas spirit while you’re at it!

This is a reminder that TCDS is CLOSED tomorrow for students. Members of Trinity Church will be busily preparing for the event on Saturday and us teachers will be taking professional development classes all day. We hope you enjoy the time off and come back refreshed on Monday!

Have a fabulous weekend, #TCDSfamily! See you next week!

Take Care,
