Friday Updates- January 5, 2018

Dear TCDS Families,

Happy Friday and Happy New Year! We have had a very unusual week here at Trinity, but it has been so great seeing all of our Angels’ smiling faces. Everyone has settled back into school routines despite the many interruptions to our regular schedule. The children are showing their teachers all of the wonderful things they have learned so far this year. And winter crafts are starting to decorate the hallways. It’s amazing all of the activity that can happen in such a short period of time!

The heat in the Great Room is fixed and the entire building is toasty warm in these frigid winter conditions. We are very lucky to have extra space in the church building and flexible teachers who work hard to ensure our children are warm and safe. Thank you to everyone for your understanding during the repairs.

Next Friday, January 12, is Conference Day. This is an important time for parents to sit with their child’s teacher and discuss progress and recommendations for next year. If you haven’t already, please sign up for a time to meet. There will be no school this day, however Extended Day will be open from 9-3 should you need care. There are sign-up sheets on the Extended Day bulletin board in the lobby: you can sign up for just your conference time or for a chunk of time throughout the day. Please keep in mind this service is only for children who are currently enrolled at TCDS- no siblings are able to stay. If there is a delayed opening or closure next Friday, all conferences will take place via phone conversation at your scheduled time. Please make every attempt to be free at the time of your scheduled conference should inclement weather take place.

Next week, we will host our Winter Open House for prospective families on January 10 and 11 from 9:30-11:30. If you know anyone looking for a school family for next year, please let them know they can stop in either day within the time frame for a tour. We appreciate our families spreading the word about the wonderful things happening at TCDS every day! Registration for the community will open Thursday, January 25 at 8:00 am.

Registration for Trinity families will open on Thursday, January 18 in the Parish Hall upstairs. Outside doors will open at 7:30 am so you don’t need to wait in the cold. Laura and I will begin taking applications at 8:00 am. Our policy is that families must be here in person to register their child; if you are not able to be here in person, you can submit your application and registration fee in the office later. Please keep in mind that some classes may fill up quickly, so register ASAP!

Although it’s hard to think about summer with these temperatures, we are starting to make plans for our Summer Nature Program in June! Information about the program, applications, and savings coupon can be found on our website (www.trinitychurchdayschool.com) so you can start planning out your summer schedule! We will begin registration for the Summer Nature Program on March 5, 2018.

Next Wednesday, January 10, the Parents’ Club will host a Bull Roast Meeting and Ladies Movie Night in the Parish Hall upstairs. Our Bull Roast is scheduled for March 23 at Columbus Gardens, but we need lots of volunteers before, during, and after the event to make it successful. Please attend the meeting at 6:30 pm to see how you might be able to help. The movie “Home Again”, starring Reese Witherspoon, will be shown at 7:00 pm following the meeting. It should be said that, although this is a “ladies” night, any and all parents/grandparents/staff/friends of TCDS are welcome to join us for both the meeting and the movie! Please bring a snack to share and a beverage if you would like. Hope to see you there!

Although we do not go outside on days when the temperatures are below freezing, we will try to get the children outside when the weather permits. Please be sure to send your child into school with heavy coats, hats, and mittens to keep them warm! Also, be sure you have placed a seasonally appropriate change of clothes in your child’s cubby in case of spills or accidents. Finally, if you are looking to clean out some clothes at home, we are always accepting donations of clothes in good condition for extras.

I hope that you are all able to stay warm and comfortable this weekend. I also hope that the winter weather I have heard rumors about on Monday stays away! We will see what Jack Frost has in store for us!

Take Care,

Chrissy
