Friday Updates- April 13, 2018

Hello TCDS Families!

Happy Friday, and HAPPY SPRINGTIME, to all! It has been so lovely on the playground these past two days… I don’t know who is enjoying the sunshine more, the students or the staff! I am also loving the springtime crafts adorning the hallway walls and all of the bright, fresh outfits the kiddos have been styling! Our Kindness Tree is blooming more and more each day, and I just love seeing the pride on the children’s faces when they hang up their flowers. Thank you to the families who have been spreading kindness at home as well! Please remember there is tape on the table in the lobby outside of the office, in addition to extra flowers, so please help your child hang their flowers from home before school begins!

The 3’s and 4’s classes have field trips coming up! The 3’s classes will tour Ladew Gardens on Wednesday, April 25 and the 4’s classes will visit Marshy Point on Friday, April 27. Please remember that we cannot transport children to these field trip sites, so each child must be accompanied by an adult. More information and permission slips will come home on Monday and Tuesday of this week, so keep an eye out!

Class picture days will be Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24 in the morning. Each picture will be $7 and a slip explaining how payment will be collected will go home next week. We ask that all children wear their TCDS shirts for class picture day. Shirts are available for purchase in the office OR your child can borrow one for the picture. We look forward to bright smiles and lovely pictures!

Extended Day Dance will also take place on Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24 from 12-3. Our own fabulous Ms. Melissa will guide students through a fun lesson filled with music, movement, and dancing! Sign-Up sheets went home this week, so make sure to get them back to the office ASAP. A limited number of spots are available for each day, and we don’t want anyone to miss out!

On Sunday, April 22, the Dad’s Club will hold a Mulch Madness event to help spread new playground chips on our lovely playground. We will begin at 1pm and, if we get plenty of people here, it shouldn’t take long at all to get the work done. Yes, your children are welcome to join us and take advantage of some playground time as well! Food and beverages will be provided to those who come to help. Please bring a rake, shovel, and wheelbarrow if you can!

The church is hosting a few upcoming events that I would love to see our Day School families attend. The Church and Day School will work together to host a Community Day on Saturday, May 5. This is a day to highlight community businesses and services and bring the community together for some fun! Come join us for some shopping, bounce house and outdoor fun, delicious food, and plant sales! The Day School will also have an Open House on this day, so please send any families looking for a preschool for a visit this day! The event runs from 10-2… I hope to see you there! The church will also host TCDS Sunday on May 6, 2018 at 10:00 am. This service will include a children’s sermon, a chance to sing for the congregation with Ms. Sue, and a special treat from Dr. Fran. There will also be a special coffee hour, filled with yummy treats, following the service. And, of course, the playground will be open for some fun! Please consider joining us for this lovely event with the church!

As the days get warmer, I know our families enjoy utilizing our playground space after school. Please remember that our Extended Day and Enrichment students, who are still in our care, use the playground after lunch. For the safety of these students, I ask that you finish up your playtime by 12:40 to make room for our students that are still in school. Also, if you would like to eat a picnic lunch, please use the picnic tables up by the Parish Hall outside of the playground to protect any children with allergies. I truly appreciate your understanding and help in ensuring all of our students experience a safe and healthy day at school!

ENJOY this weekend and the lovely weather it is promising us. Get those kiddoes outside, break out the sidewalk chalk, and maybe even fly a kite! Get some fresh air and some vitamin D… and get ready for another fun week at TCDS next week!

Take Care,

Chrissy
