Dear TCDS Families,
Happy Friday! We only have one more week of school left in the 2017-2018 year… sigh, I can’t believe it’s already May 18. As the end of the year approaches, we see a whole range of behaviors that we are not really used to seeing, which we lovingly call “Spring Fever”. At this age, the children can sense change coming but cannot usually understand and express how they are feeling; therefore these feelings can manifest as different behaviors. From extra silliness to unexplained weepiness, a lot of the children are a little out of sorts as they approach the transition to summer and the next school year. If you notice your child is acting differently, please know that it is very common and they will likely be themselves again very soon.
Next week will be filled with end of the year celebrations and fun activities. Please be sure to read your teacher’s communications carefully to ensure you don’t miss anything important! And don’t hesitate to ask questions if there is anything you need clarification on.
We will have our last regular chapel on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:40. If you would like to join us, please head to the chapel at that time. As always, the students will be dismissed from their classrooms following chapel.
Our 4s classes will have their Closing Chapel on Friday, May 25 at 9:30. Please drop your child off in their classroom at 9:00 as usual and go up to find a spot in the church. It is anticipated that we will have quite a crowd for this chapel, so please be prepared for standing room only if necessary. A reception is planned following the chapel service in the upstairs parish hall. I look forward to seeing you there!
Extended Day will be open through Thursday, May 24. There will be no morning care or Extended Day on Friday, May 25, so please plan accordingly. Ms. Vicky’s last day will be Monday, May 21 for medical reasons. If you would like to give her a hug and wish her a happy summer, please stop by on Monday afternoon to do so!
We had a wonderful demonstration of the Soccer Shots program this Wednesday. The kids really had fun and the staff was very impressed with the energy and personalities of the coaches. We will have Soccer Shots here at Trinity every Wednesday through the month of June from 1:00-1:30 in the meadow behind the church. If your child would like to participate, please visit www.soccershots.org to enroll him/her. All children ages 2-5 are welcome, even if they aren’t currently enrolled at TCDS. I am also looking for feedback about the program to determine if we should continue into the fall, so please come by and let me know how you liked it!
Thanks to Asher Collins, the fence on the playground is again stable and all areas of the playground are open. He also replaced the door knob on the front door, which you may have noticed was a bit loose. I’m not sure what TCDS will do next year without Asher here each day. Thank you so much to Asher and the entire Collins family for their endless support of our school!
The last week of school is always exceptionally bittersweet for me and perhaps a little more so this year since my last Angel is graduating. I look forward to time with my family over the summer, but I dread the goodbye that comes at the end of the school year. I love each and every one of these sweet children with all my heart, and I really do miss them when they aren’t here. If you see tears in my eyes next week, now you know why!! I’m looking forward to a great last week with the best staff and families ever!
