Programs and Curriculum
Trinity offers a variety of preschool and Kindergarten programs and an extended day program for children enrolled in the school.
All children entering Trinity's preschool or Kindergarten program must be the appropriate age by September 1. Hours for the morning session are 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon.
The School Year
The preschool program begins in September with conferences and a gradual entrance program. This is designed to provide a supportive and successful introduction to the preschool environment. The Kindergarten program begins in late August to allow for the required 170 school days. The school year extends through May.
Two Year Olds
Trinity offers two programs for our two-year-olds. The Mommy & Me class meets one day per week and requires that each child be accompanied by a parent or significant adult. The program provides opportunities for you and your child to have fun together while participating in age appropriate activities planned by the teacher.
The Explorers is our drop-off program for two-year-olds. The Explorers meet two days per week under the supervisor of a classroom teacher and an assistant. This program provides the children with the opportunity to separate from their parent or caregiver in a very gentle manner and at the same time gain a level of comfort in a classroom setting.
Both Mommy & Me and Trinity Explorers provide opportunities for children to interact with their peers while learning to share and take turns. Craft activities, free play and circle time with songs, stories and fingerplays are included in the programs.
Three Year Olds
Programs for three and four year olds provide readiness activities, art/craft experiences and opportunities for socialization so important at this age. Trinity offers two Three Year Old programs. You child may attend the Tuesday/Thursday program, or the Monday/Wednesday/Friday program. All children at Trinity must be potty trained.
Four Year Olds
Trinity offers two programs for four-year-olds. Your child may attend the three or five day program. A new enrichment program for four-year-olds will be offered in the fall of 2007. The Enrichment Program has been designed to help children make the transition from Pre-K into a full-day Kindergarten program. Children will remain in school for an additional three hours three times per week extending their day until 3:00 P.M. The focus of the afternoon session will be hands-on science and social studies activities designed to improve language, pre-reading skills. A thirty minute lunch period will be included with appropriate time set aside for outdoor play and rest.
Kindergarten
Trinity's Kindergarten uses a multisensory approach to learning. Children experience reading and math readiness in a program that reinforces and builds upon the foundation laid in the preschool. Kindergartners are also offered Spanish instruction.
Trinity also offers a Kindergarten Enrichment program. Kindergarten Enrichment extends the day for Kindergarten children until 3 o'clock. It is an optional program designed to provide a nurturing, learning environment promoting exploration, creativity, literacy, and social skills. The program has been developed to enrich and enhance the regular Kindergarten program with emphasis in the areas of science, social studies, language arts, and creative writing. An hour of weekly art instruction is included in the enrichment program. Parents have an option of choosing either three or five additional afternoons. A thirty minute lunch period is included with appropriate time for rest and outdoor play.
Extended Days/Lunch Bunch
The Extended Day program operates from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for regular or occasional care. Lunch Bunch extends the school day until 1:00 p.m. for additional playtime and the convenience of parents. Our Extended Day program is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Human Resources/Child Care Administration.
