Thursday Updates- November 29, 2018

Happy Thursday, All!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holidays! We are all thankful that our Angels have returned to begin our Christmas season here at TCDS. Our Enrichment friends have started to learn about Christmas around the World. All of our students have started learning holiday music with Ms. Sue. And the halls are already decked with beautiful crafts! I just love this time of year!

I am writing updates today because we are closed tomorrow, Friday, November 30, 2018.

The church’s Candy Cane Christmas Bazaar is this Saturday, December 1 from 9am to 2pm. Please join us for some shopping, pictures with Santa, greens sales, baked goods, and much more! I will be in the Day School lobby greeting and selling raffle tickets from 9-12, so come say hi!

Our Outreach projects are in full swing! All of our Angel gifts have been claimed… thank you so much to everyone who is purchasing these items. All wrapped gifts must be returned, with the Angel tag attached, by December 12. Please check off that you have returned your gift on the sign-up list. We are still collecting cans through next Wednesday, December 5. Scarves, hats, and gloves will be collected through December 19. Thank you all for your generosity and for showing your children what the holiday spirit is really all about!

Santa’s Workshop is coming up on December 13 and 14, with Wrapping Night happening on December 12 at 6:30 pm. More information and a wishlist will be sent home later next week. Please follow these links to sign up to volunteer for either or both of these events:

Please keep in mind the following important reminders:

  1. If your child is not contracted to stay in morning care, but you would like them to, we need 24 hours’ notice before a drop-off. Our mornings are getting full and we cannot accommodate extra students without extra staff members. I would hate to have to tell you the morning of that they cannot be dropped off, so please follow this guideline.
  2. Due to staffing restrictions, our policy states that only children who are potty-trained may stay in Extended Day. Please plan accordingly.
  3. If you come to school when the door is locked, please be sure to ring the bell to be let in. Please DO NOT let people in behind you. It’s not rude to ask them to ring the bell too… it’s safe! Also, if you are coming in for anything other than drop off or pick up, please come to the office to sign in.
  4. Please switch your child’s extra clothes to something warm for the season. Also, please be sure your child wears a heavy coat, hat, mittens/gloves, etc. Teachers will take their students outside every day, weather permitting, and we would like them to be comfortable.

It’s that lovely time of year when coughs are prevalent and illnesses abound. Please be sure to follow our sick policy as outlined in the Parents Handbook. Also, please be aware that this is a common time of year when lice seem to spread. Please check your child(ren)’s heads regularly for any evidence of an infestation. If any evidence is found (including live bugs, nymphs, or nits), please treat your child ASAP and notify the office. We will then notify any families who have come in direct contact with your child (but don’t worry, confidentiality will remain intact). This notification is vital in the school’s response to prevent the spread of lice. Our protocol outlines that children should remain out of school for 24 hours following the first treatment to allow the medication to work.

Tonight is the first meeting of the Parents’ Book Club. If you are interested, please meet in the TCDS library at 7:30 pm!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I truly hope to see many of you here at Trinity on Saturday for the Bazaar! See you next week!

Take Care,
