Friday Updates- September 6, 2019

Dear TCDS Families!

WOW! What a wonderful first week of school it has been! Our 3’s and 4’s students have made it a wonderful start to the school year! Everyone is adjusting well to their new classrooms and starting to learn all of the routines. And, they seem to be having a lot of fun doing it! Thank you for supporting your child and helping them to feel successful this week! Please read the following message for important information.

Communication: The school sends out various communications throughout each month to ensure that information is sent home. These Friday Updates will be emailed every week to discuss the week and send reminders for what is upcoming. A Tiny Tales newsletter is also sent home at the beginning of each month to discuss the month ahead. Sometimes, reminders are also sent home from teachers in your child’s folder and/or on any online forms of communication (Bloomz or ClassTag). Finally, the bulletin board in the lobby displays important dates and information for the month. PLEASE, read these forms of communication consistency and thoroughly to avoid miscommunications and confusion. If there is anything you think has been missed, please feel free to reach out to the office to ensure it has been communicated.

Going Green: A small, dark green form was sent home this week regarding communications. We try to reduce our paper usage by sending home the Tiny Tales newsletter electronically to this contact list. If you would prefer a paper copy, please send that form back to the office by next Wednesday. Tiny Tales will be sent home by the end of next week. Also, if someone was supposed to be added to this email list and you know they are not receiving messages, please let me know ASAP.

Lunch: If there are items in your child’s lunch that must be refrigerated, please mark them clearly with your child’s name and place them in the bin outside of your child’s classroom marked for lunch items. We cannot store full lunch boxes in our refrigerator, so please be sure to put only the cold items in the bins. Also, please be mindful that we are a peanut-free school and, therefore, your child may not have anything with peanuts in their lunches. If you pack a peanut butter substitute, please place a note in the lunchbox so the staff knows. Also, please refrain from packing items that must be heated up. Enrichment and Extended Day are packed this year, which makes heating items up very time consuming. We want all of our students to enjoy their lunches together, and in a timely fashion so they can go outside to play.

Snacks: Due to a number of food allergies in classes this year, we are asking that all snacks sent into school for morning classes are completely nut-free. We appreciate your diligence and understanding in this matter.

Back to School Night: This event takes place next Thursday, September 12 at 7:00pm. Please come to the Great Room (room 108) first for a whole-school meeting before going to your child’s classroom. You will learn important information about our school and about your child’s specific classroom, so please try your best to make it. As this is an informational meeting, with nothing planned for children, please refrain from bringing your little ones with you.

Upcoming Dates:

September 11 & 12          Parents’ Club Meet and Greet (after drop-off)

September 12                    Back to School Night at 7pm

September 17                    Soccer Shots begins

September 18                    First Day of Enrichment

September 20                    Ice Cream Social

Sunday School: This Sunday, Trinity Church will begin their Sunday School program. The teachers provide fun lessons for the children each week (except the first Sunday of each month, which is a family service) while their parents attend the 10:00 service. Registration is this Sunday. Following a shortened outdoor service at 10:00, the congregation will host a picnic to welcome everyone back for a new school year! Please join us and see what Trinity Church has to offer!

I hope all of the children had a wonderful week and are enjoying school as much as they appear to be. We look forward to welcoming our 2s students next week for the modified Gradual Entry schedule. I can’t wait to have all of our Angels here with us! Have a great weekend!

Take Care,
