Friday Updates- October 18, 2019

Happy Friday, TCDS Families!

This week marked our first special programs of the year! Our 3s classes went to Farmer Stan’s Agricultural Farm for a chance to learn about farming and bees, walk through a corn maze, run some pumpkin relays, and check out some animals! After seeing some pictures, it looked like a really fun time and they ALL lucked out with a dry trip! We were also visited by our friendly firefighters at Long Green Volunteer Fire Company on Monday to learn about our important first responders in an emergency. Please check out our Facebook page later today for pictures from this fun activity! And, of course, our regular classes were full of fun, play, and learning!

Next Wednesday, the 4s classes will go to Beachmont Corn Maze for their field trip. Because of timing, there will be NO ENRICHMENT class on Wednesday. If your child needs care until 3, you may bring them back for Extended Day at no charge; however, you MUST tell us ahead of time if you are coming back so we can ensure we have enough staffing. Thanks in advance!

Our 2s classes will attend their field trip to Fresh Mckenzie Monday and Tuesday, October 28 and 29. Permission slips went home this week. Two and You families, please keep a special eye out for an additional email with an attached permission slip and instructions.

Our 5th annual Fall Harvest Party and Chili Cook-off Contest was a rousing success again this year! The weather was perfect for a festive fall night under the lights on the playground! A HUGE thanks to Cari Santiago for chairing this event and her volunteers for making it all happen! Also, thank you to all of our chili contestants for making their delicious recipes! Congratulations to the following winners:

Best Traditional: Ann Levinstim

Best Spicy: Jen Collins

Best Vegetarian: Jamie Neary

Best Overall: Joe and Camryn Rector

The Parents’ Club is looking for feedback about the Fall Harvest Party! Please take a few seconds to take this short survey, even if you didn’t attend, so we can keep this event new and fresh for our families!

The Book Fair was also a great time thanks to Colleen Castle and the parent volunteers who ran the register all week! Hopefully the kiddos are enjoying their new books with as much excitement as they had when buying them!

We have some pulled pork left over in the freezer from last Friday. It was slow cooked overnight, painstakingly shredded, and packed in to-go containers for your lunch or dinner needs. If you would like to buy a container for $5.00, please come and see me in the office!

Tonight is Movie Night at Trinity starting at 6:30. The church is showing “Secret Life of Pets 2” in the Parish Hall upstairs. Please come in your PJs and bring a blanket. Some changes have been made because of some unsafe behaviors in the movie room. The doors will remain open between the lobby and the movie room to ensure that all children can be supervised from both rooms. Please talk with your children about appropriate movie behavior: quiet talking in response to the movie is okay, but shouting, wrestling, and jumping over other children is not. If your child needs to get their wiggles out, it’s understandable and okay! But please have him/her come see you if they need help. If your child has a hard time staying in one spot during the movie, please place them in the back of the movie room so they can easily come in and out of the room as needed. Finally, because the doors will remain open, parent conversations should remain at a low volume in order to not disturb the movie. We love this wonderful monthly event, but need to be sure that everyone is safe. We thank you in advance for your support!

I cannot believe we are ready to enter the 3rd full week in October. This year is already flying by in a busy blur of fun! I hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday!

Take Care,
