Thursday Updates- December 5, 2019

Happy Thursday, All!

I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday! We are all thankful that our Angels have returned to begin our Christmas season here at TCDS. Our Enrichment friends have started to learn about Christmas around the World. All of our students have been learning holiday music with Ms. Sue. And the halls are decked with beautiful crafts! I just love this time of year!

I am writing updates today because we are closed tomorrow, Friday, December 6, 2019.

The church’s Candy Cane Christmas Bazaar is this Saturday, December 7 from 9am to 2pm. Please join us for some shopping, pictures with Santa, greens sales, baked goods, and much more! I will be in the Day School taking pictures with Santa, so come say hi!

If you pre-ordered greens from Trinity, pick-up is tomorrow from noon-6pm. Please go to the upstairs Parish Hall to retrieve your order at that time! If you didn’t have the chance to pre-order, a limited amount of greens will be available for sale on Saturday during the Bazaar.

Our Outreach projects are in full swing! The donation box is starting to fill with new toys for Kennedy Krieger Institute. Scarves, hats, and gloves are starting to cover our tree. Both of these donation drives will be collected through December 17. The canned food drive is complete and we collected over 300 cans when all was said and done!! Thank you all for your generosity and for showing your children what the holiday spirit is really all about!

Extended Day Music is coming up this Thursday, December 12 from 12-3. Ms. Sue and the Extended Day staff have planned a fun afternoon filled with crafts, music and food to celebrate Christmas! A permission slip went home this week. Please return those slips ASAP with payment to ensure your child’s spot!

Santa’s Workshop is coming up on December 12 and 13, with Wrapping Night happening on December 11 at 6:30 pm. More information and a wish list was sent home this week. Please note: The Friday date on this wish list for shopping is incorrect… MWF students will shop Friday, December 13. Please follow these links to sign up to volunteer for either or both of these events:

Calendar Reminders: All holiday chapels are listed on our school calendar. We do these services each year for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and 4s Closing. Please note that all holiday chapel days are not regular school days and that a parent or caregiver must stay at Trinity to take the child home following the service. Also, please note that school is closed to students on Conference days, but we do offer Extended Day services on those days from 9-3.

Please keep in mind the following important reminders:

  1. If your child is not contracted to stay in morning care, but you would like them to, we need 24 hours’ notice before a drop-off. Our mornings are mostly full and we cannot accommodate extra students without extra staff members. I would hate to have to tell you the morning of that they cannot be dropped off, so please follow this guideline.
  2. Due to staffing restrictions, our policy states that only children who are potty-trained may stay in Extended Day. Please plan accordingly.
  3. If you come to school when the door is locked, please be sure to ring the bell to be let in. Please DO NOT let people in behind you, ESPECIALLY if you don’t know them. It’s not rude to ask them to ring the bell too… it’s safe!
  4. Please switch your child’s extra clothes to something warm for the season. Also, please be sure your child wears a heavy coat, hat, mittens/gloves, etc. Teachers will take their students outside every day, weather permitting, and we would like them to be comfortable.

It’s that lovely time of year when coughs are prevalent and illnesses abound. Please be sure to follow our sick policy as outlined in the Parents Handbook. Also, please be aware that this is a common time of year when lice seem to spread. Please check your child(ren)’s heads regularly for any evidence of an infestation. If any evidence is found (including live bugs, nymphs, or nits), please treat your child ASAP and notify the office. We will then notify any families who have come in direct contact with your child (but don’t worry, confidentiality will remain intact). This notification is vital in the school’s response to prevent the spread of lice. Our policy outlines that children should remain out of school for 24 hours following the first treatment to allow the medication to work.

If you would like to order any books for Scholastic, tomorrow is the last day to order for guaranteed Christmas shipping. Our online code is MHKGK.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and I truly hope to see many of you here at Trinity on Saturday for the Bazaar! See you next week!

Take Care,

Chrissy
